Broadband Expansion Grants

On May 18, 2021, Governor Tony Evers announced that the PSC will launch a round of broadband expansion funding in two weeks with $100 million in funding from the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). Evers said the Wisconsin Public Service Commission will award the $100 million in federal funding based on a model similar to an existing broadband expansion grant program. There is a need for broadband internet availability in major rural parts of WI. Access to broadband has been a high-demand service, especially during the COVID 19 PANDEMIC. From the perspective of economic development and community well-being, access to quality, reliable and affordable broadband has become a necessary condition for community prosperity.
